No Better Time Than Now: A Red Circle’s Community Resource Fair Aims to Inspire Hope & Long-Term Change

Sowing good seeds into the community is necessary, especially during this season. On the heels of A Red Circle’s 8th birthday, the organization is kicking off its annual Community Resource Fair on Saturday, March 29th, from 10am to 12pm at North County Recreation Complex (2577 Redman Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63136). This is an opportunity for St. Louis residents to access valuable resources that support health, education, and well-being.

Rochelle Walton Gray, A Red Circle’s Government Relations Manager, shares details on her role in coordinating the family-friendly event and what to expect.

1) What’s your connection to A Red Circle? What drew you to work here?

I have a deep connection to A Red Circle because of their commitment to building strong, thriving communities through a holistic approach. What drew me to work here is the organization’s dedication to addressing systemic issues in marginalized communities while fostering collective healing. Their mission resonates with me on a personal level, and I believe in the power of community-driven change. A Red Circle’s work aligns with my values of empowerment, equity, and sustainability.

2) In terms of the purpose for the Community Resource Fair, why now? What makes this the right time to engage residents in this way?

Now is the perfect time for a Community Resource Fair because many residents are seeking access to vital resources after the challenges brought by Covid and the economic downturn. With so many individuals and families struggling in various aspects—be it health, employment, or education—this event provides a crucial platform to connect people with the resources they need. It’s a moment to strengthen the fabric of our community, provide practical solutions, and promote unity. The timing is right because of the need for collective support, especially in these difficult times.

3) How does this event connect to A Red Circle’s mission of collective and holistic healing?

A Red Circle understands that healing is not just about physical health, but also about emotional, social, and economic well-being. The Community Resource Fair will provide residents with a variety of services and support that help heal and empower individuals and families in a comprehensive way. It’s about addressing the whole person—mind, body, and community—through access to resources that promote overall well-being. Several vendors will address these needs.

4) What do you want the audience to take away from this resource fair?

We hope the audience walks away feeling empowered, informed, and supported. We want them to leave knowing that they are not alone in their struggles and that there are resources and people ready to help. We also want them to feel inspired to get involved in creating positive change in their community. The fair is not just about giving, but also about building connections and fostering a sense of belonging.

5) Is there anything else you want people to know about the upcoming Community Resource Fair?

The upcoming Community Resource Fair is more than just an event—it’s a step toward long-term change. It’s about building relationships, encouraging collaboration, and creating sustainable solutions that benefit everyone. We invite all members of the community, regardless of background or circumstance, to come out, participate, and take advantage of the services offered. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
