Because all blood is red...
Join us for a celebration of community, culture, and creativity! Our Kwanzaa event features a vendor fair, a delicious dinner, and a spectacular stage show with live music, poetry, singing, dancing, and more. This original production was born out of the pandemic when we had to pivot from live performances to a virtual format—a blessing in disguise that evolved into the show we have today. Don't miss this multi-faceted experience! All proceeds will support renovations for The Creative Spot in Ferguson, MO, allowing us to continue bringing music and arts experiences to the community.
Take a look at some highlights from our past Kwanzaa celebrations.
Kwanzaa is a cultural holiday that celebrates African-American heritage, unity, and culture. It was created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966 during the Black Freedom Movement to provide African-Americans an opportunity to reconnect with their African roots and heritage.
Celebrate Community & Culture! A Red Circle's Kwanzaa celebration is rooted in a cherished family tradition that began in the 1980s. Led by the Executive Director Erica Williams’ uncle, Damu Smith, the celebrations were held at their Aunt Joyce Coffey’s home in North St. Louis. This incredible family, known as the Black O’Kelleys, carries a legacy of pride and cultural celebration passed down through generations. Don’t miss the Roots & Blues feature video, produced by Caitlin Ung, showcasing this beautiful connection of culture and music. Learn more about Lady J Huston’s remarkable journey at ladyjhuston.com.
