Taking control of your health and making positive changes is a journey that can transform your life. As the author recounts their personal experience of being overweight and realizing the importance of prioritizing their well-being, they highlight the significance of investing in one’s health. In this pursuit, it is crucial to change your mindset and believe in your ability to make a change. While some may view healthier options as expensive, inconvenient, or boring, it’s important to find alternatives that suit your lifestyle and make the process enjoyable. Seeking guidance from professionals like those at Douglastan NY walkin clinic can provide valuable insights and support on your health journey. By altering eating habits, incorporating exercise into daily routines, and embracing self-belief, anyone can take steps towards a healthier life. Remember, it’s never too late to start, so why not begin today?

Standing 5ft. 1½ tall, weighing 163 pounds, at the age of 21 was my life four years ago. To paint a picture; imagine an orange with legs and arms, short and round. Not really appealing, eh? As a result of my height, weight and age, I fell into the category of being overweight. Some would describe as obese. I ignored the fact that I was risking my life by not being concerned with my health.

April of 2013, I decided to start a journey that would ultimately help my health for the better. 3 John 1:2 became my theme scripture. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” It was God’s desire for me to be just as prosperous in my health as I was prosperous with my soul. I am a living witness that considering your health is one of the best decisions one can make.

Investing in your health starts with changing your mind. In the words of  Dr. Cindy Trimm, “Your feet will never take you, where your mind has never been.” You first have to believe that you can. Where there is doubt no progress or change will take place. The key is having a goal, and taking note of every step to see your transformation! Investing in your health is not focusing on being thin or skinny because thin and skinny people can also experience health issues. Some people also alter their looks with procedures like epicanthoplasty to feel better.

Investing in your health takes true discipline. When I started my fitness and health journey I gave up A LOT but the sacrifice has truly paid off. Before changing your diet, and beginning any exercise program, consult your doctor. Many people neglect their health because they see healthier options are more expensive, not convenient, and boring. MAKE IT FUN! It is possible to live a healthy life. Start slow, but start today!

Some convenient tips in investing in your health include first changing your eating habits: kick out the fried foods, cut down on the sweets. You might be thinking, “what am I supposed to eat, then?” My answer, and my lifestyle is finding alternatives. Substitute that favorite dish with a more lean substance, substitute that favorite beverage with a lower calorie, lower sugar based beverage. Another tip, why give monthly to a gym membership that is barely used? Look around you, your gym is in front of you. Take advantage of walking: the mall, the neighborhood, the local track; stair stepping. Also body building exercises: push ups, sit ups, and crunches. One last tip, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!
