Because all blood is red...
As 2024 comes to close, A Red Circle can attest to blessings and opportunities continuing to come full circle. Although many would agree it’s been a year of extreme highs and disastrous lows, the tide keeps turning in a positive direction for this organization.
Looking back, there’s a number of reasons to be thankful. For one, 2024 was A Red Circle’s rebuilding year following the pandemic. We increased staff, constructed a farmhouse, followed by the installation of a third growing space. A Red Circle also opened a community arts facility called The Creative Spot, began running a grocery store, launched a new summer literacy program. Above all else, the focus remained on making new community connections and re-initiating pre-pandemic relationships.
When asked to name highlights that resonated, our staff had a mouthful to say:
“Program-wise, it was being able to see the expansion of Parent Cafe.” – Jacqueline Randle, Program Manager, Parent Cafe
“Being able to fulfill my duties at A Red Circle while caring for my mom at the same time without having to put her in a facility.” – Cynthia Veal, Education Advocacy Coordinator
“Getting the $3 million HUD grant for my department. Also, being able to learn about my team more after a round of staff transition – their skills, strengths and how we can make progress together.” – Jessica Carter, Site Director of North County Community Nexus
“How we figured it out and continue to show up, no matter what. And, how we do it together – that’s my testimony.” -Jessica Moore, Nutrition Culinarian
“Seizing the day, doing everything I can, when I can. Getting the verbal okay to expand the SAFE program in Riverview Gardens School District.” -Tamar Brown, Education Advocacy Director
“Kwanzaa has been a long time coming with massive preparation, and it turned out amazing despite minor challenges. Plus, the “Drum Warriors Ensemble” is lovely with potential for growth. It’s giving community.” -Jessica Johnson, Director of Community Arts
“My recent engagement to my partner makes me so thankful.” -Erisha Tyus, Executive Assistant
“Returning A Red Circle to its original mission, post-pandemic programming. Being able to do that for the first full year.” -Erica Williams, Founder and Executive Director
Stay tuned for more greatness that A Red Circle has planned in 2025!
