This original production was born out of the pandemic when we had to pivot from live performances to a virtual format—a blessing in disguise that evolved into the show we have today. All of this is presented at an extremely reasonable rate. Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly towards renovating A Red Circle's community art space, The Creative Spot in Ferguson, MO, allowing us to continue providing vital arts and healing experiences to the community. We also seek donations to help offset costs and keep ticket prices at a minimum.
Angela Jennings has been lifting her voice in song since the age of five, beginning her musical journey in the heart of her church community. With a warm, soulful tone and a gift for harmony, she has grown into a trusted and sought-after support vocalist for local artists. Angela’s passion for music shines through every performance, and she continues to inspire audiences with her dedication, artistry, and heartfelt commitment to every stage she graces.
Brenda Nelson is a dynamic stage performer known for bringing history to life. She captivated audiences as the commanding Judge in the “1875 Horsedrawn Streetcar Boycott” and stars in the lead role of Victoria in “Victoria Halley and the Harlem Hell Fighters,” portraying courage and resilience. Brenda’s performances are marked by depth, strength, and presence, and she continues to inspire audiences while honoring history through her craft.
Danasia J Nance is a creative who dabbles in all forms of art making niche earrings, painting, and junk journaling in her spare time. She loves plants, herbalism, and Guinea pigs. She has a love of the theatrical arts and has performed in front and behind the scenes in high school productions such as Rent, Taming of the Shrew, and Joseph & the Technicolor dream coat. Dana believes in living life with no regrets so make sure you try new things or experiment with the old because you only have one life to live so make sure you life it tenfold.
Eric Williams is the Food and Farm Associate of A Red Circle. A graduate of the University of Missouri–St. Louis with a vocal performance degree, he has performed throughout the city with groups such as the In Unison Chorus at Powell Symphony Hall and the Ambassadors of Harmony. Erica R. Williams is the Founder and Executive Director of A Red Circle, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting community betterment in North St. Louis County through a racial equity lens. As an adult learner, she attended St. Louis Community College Florissant Valley, earning a BA in Paralegal Studies and an MBA from Maryville University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy and Administration with a concentration in policy analysis from Walden University. Under Erica's leadership, A Red Circle has initiated several impactful projects in the arts, education, and community wellness.
When Frank Dunbar is not playing the bass guitar, he’s flying high in his ultralight airplane. He began playing bass for Mr. Albert King back in the late ‘70s. Before then, he was bassist for the Charles Drain review, and Casey & the Matadors band. He played for Mrs. Loyce Huston for many years as bassist, and band leader. Now he works alongside Lady J Huston and it's been a great adventure! He also performs as a single act singing, playing guitar and harmonica. He did busking all last year downtown in the city of St Louis and surrounding areas, and loved it!
A proud Chicago native, I’ve been playing the trumpet since the age of 10, beginning my musical journey in 1981. Music has always been a central part of my life — from singing in church as a child to performing in choirs throughout high school and college. I am a graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where I continued to develop my musicianship and passion for performance. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the lead trumpet for the St. Louis Big Band, sharing the stage with talented musicians and bringing vibrant, soulful sound to audiences across the region.
Jessica D. Johnson is the Community Arts Director for A Red Circle and the playwright of Kwanzaa: The Village It Takes. With the support of the company’s team and staff, she brought this meaningful community celebration to life. A gifted artist and seasoned vocalist, Jessica has performed in high school musicals, church choirs, and local venues. She uses her talents to uplift North County, bringing creativity, heart, and energy to every stage while continuing to grow as a performer and leader. Lady J Huston is a multi-award-winning vocalist, trumpeter, songwriter & St. Louis Blues Legend who also held title as the Las Vegas Queen of Blues. At 18 years old she sang with Johnnie Johnson, & toured as trumpeter & music director with Blues legend, Albert King. She received a 2025 Legends in Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award. Her 2023 album “Groove Me Baby” won a Blues Blast Magazine Award & others. Lady J delivers both a high-energy show & multimedia "Roots & Blues" program. Introducing Laila Anderson! This 15-year-old rising star makes her stage debut with charm and flair. A sophomore at McCluer High School, Laila is gifted in multiple artistic disciplines and serves as an Associate Assistant at A Red Circle’s The Creative Spot, bringing energy and passion to everything she does.

Yc-Bey is a rising creator from St. Louis whose work blurs the line between music, animation, and street literature. The Point of View Jazz Ensemble is one of the leading youth groups of HEAL Center for the Arts, led by Founder and Executive Director Harvey Lockhart. At 29, Spring Tyme brings the warmth of Alabama and the creative experiences she gained in Indianapolis to the stage. Creator of the award-winning film Replay and the global arts documentary Healing Hearts Through Healthy Arts, she continues to empower communities through innovation, leadership, and creative impact.
Theda Roxanne Wilson, born in St. Louis, is a lifelong activist dedicated to justice and giving voice to the unheard. A graduate of The Academy of Mathematics and Science and Harris-Stowe State University, she worked to strengthen families and schools in St. Louis Public Schools. She founded Looking for an Angel, Inc. in honor of her missing son. Known for Tina Turner tributes, Theda is also an artist and public servant committed to a safer, informed community. Kwanzaa is a cultural holiday that celebrates African-American heritage, unity, and culture. It was created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966 during the Black Freedom Movement to provide African-Americans an opportunity to reconnect with their African roots and heritage.
